Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is situated in southwestern Uganda. It covers a size of 321km2 with ever-green vegetation because it receives much rainfall throughout the year. It has an altitude of 1,160m – 2,607m above sea level.

Today, Bwindi Impenetrable National Park protects 16 habituated gorilla families. Spread over a series of steep ridges and valleys, Bwindi is the source of five major rivers, which flow into Lake Edward.
Its mist-covered hillsides are blanketed by one of Uganda’s oldest and most biologically diverse rainforests, which dates back over 25,000 years and contains almost 400 species of plants and many unique bird species. Over 450 Gorillas are found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park thus having the largest number of mountain Gorillas in the world.
The park is mainly known as the leading gorilla trekking destination in Uganda
More other 120 mammals are found in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park plus other several primate species, including baboons and chimpanzees, as well as elephants and antelopes. It’s also believed that over 350 species of birds are hosted in this forest, including 23 Albertine Rift endemics.
