The question is, what can we do to make Uganda tourism number one in the region?

Uganda tourism can be promoted through the construction of standard roads connecting to tourist destinations. All the ten National parks should be connected by good roads to ease transportation of tourists from one point to another.

Uganda should revive its airlines to ease international and domestic flights. Of recent, Uganda airline stopped its operation due to poor management and limited fund which destructed direct fight to Uganda and in return, the number of tourists reduced.

The government should facilitate tourism industry by injecting more finance in tourism. It is noted that limited fund which is given to Uganda tourism industry cannot enable it compete favourably with that of her neighbours.  More funds needed to market the industry through advertisements.

Uganda should conduct and participate in reloaded world trade market exhibitions as a way of marketing her tourist potentials.

Uganda government should massively advertise its tourist attractions through mass media like radios, Televisions, Internet among others.

In order to promote Uganda tourism, the government should strictly protect is natural features like forests, mountains, hills, valleys, water bodies among others. Such features are not only tourist attractions but also hosts wild animals, birds, reptiles, insects among others.

Ugandans should unite to fight against poaching of wild animals and birds. Poaching is the illegal hunting of wild animals like elephants, Rhinos, antelopes, zebras among others. Some animals are hunted for meat while others for tasks or horns.

Uganda tourism can be revived by reducing the costs of tourist activities and park entry fees. Currently, the cost of Uganda gorilla trekking permit is at US$ 600, Kibale chimp trekking permit at US$ 150, park entry fee is US$ 40 per 12hours.  If costs are reduced, the tourists will be attracted to come in Uganda to enjoy activities at low costs.

Mass education should be conducted in Uganda to teach people about the importance of tourism industry. If citizens are sensitized, they will directly participate in protecting wildlife and at the same time promoting domestic tourism.

Tight security should be put at the parks and game reserves to safe guard animals, birds and tourists.

The government should create a peaceful environment for the tourists to come in without fear. Uganda should put much emphasis on creating peace to attract visitors. All country boarders should be strictly be guarded to claim peace in Uganda.

The government should reduce taxes levied on Hotel and Lodge to enable they reduce accommodation prices. Tourists prefer staying in price friendly lodges.

More and excellent service providing accommodation should be built to attract more visitors in Uganda. Government officers should strictly inspect hotels and lodges to ensure that they meet the required standards.

The government should construct an international Airport in the western Uganda to ease air transport. The Airport can serve tourists going to Mgahinga National Park, Bwindi Impenetrable forest National Park, Semuliki National Park, Mountain Rwenzori National park, Queen Elizabeth national park, Lake Mburo National Park and Kibale National Park. It is hectic to transport by road from Entebbe Airport by road to western Uganda but if there is direct flights, Uganda tourism can be boosted.

Uganda tourism can be promoted when local residents are attracted to engage in it. Part of the profits obtained from tourism should be shared with local communities surrounding the parks and game reserves. They can get it through services like clean water, good schools, good health centres among others.
