Cattle rustling has been a long-standing issue in the Karamoja region of Uganda. While efforts have been made to address this problem, it is still considered an area with security challenges. This is not the only place that has been highlighted for safety reasons but also Bunagana; Uganda’s border with the Democratic Republic of Congo.

It is important to note that these are not war zones. Rather places that have now and then suffered from some form of unrest. Even though the situation is back to normal, it is important to take some precautions while visiting these places on your Uganda safari. Here are some of the things to need to consider for such safaris.

Satellite Phone

It is highly recommended that you visit the red zone places in Uganda during the peak season. In months such as June, July, and August; many people are traveling around the country which reduces the chances of you getting isolated in case of any attacks.

While visiting the places that have been marked red, always still to the known trails that everyone else is using. Do not try to get off the path in search of a better experience.

Travel During the Dry Season

Traveling during the dry season reduces the chances of you getting stranded on the road. To avoid the stress of getting stranded in a place you partly fear; we recommend you travel in the dry season.
