Uganda is one of the emerging East African safari destinations partly due to gorilla trekking, and chimpanzee tracking among several other popular safari activities. A few years ago, European countries were allowed to get Visas on arrival.

All Visas on arrival were abolished thus all Visa applications are handled online. However, if you are using the land borders. You do not need to apply for the Visa online. You can always get it at the borders.
If you are planning to visit Uganda, Rwanda, and Kenya; we recommend you get a multiple-entry East African tourist Visa. However, if you are only visiting Uganda, then a Ugandan tourist Visa can suffice. Here is the process of acquiring a Ugandan tourist Visa.
Gather the required documents
To apply for a tourist visa, you will typically need the following documents:

- A valid passport with at least six months of validity remaining.
- Two recent passport-sized photographs.
- Proof of travel arrangements, such as flight itineraries.
- Proof of accommodation bookings, such as hotel reservations.
- Proof of sufficient funds to cover your stay in Uganda.
Once you have all the above in place, then you can go ahead to visit https://visas.immigration.go.ug/ to start your Visa process.
Submit your application
Once you have completed the visa application form accurately and attached the required documents. Make sure to double-check all the information provided and ensure that your passport has enough validity.
Pay the visa fee
Uganda charges a visa fee for tourist visas. The Ugandan tourist Visa is $50 while the East African tourist Visa is $100
Wait for processing
Once you’ve submitted your application and paid the fee, wait for 3 to 5 working days to have your visa confirmed. Please note, you cannot organize the Visa in less than two days.
Collect your visa
Once your Visa is approved, you will receive a confirmation email with your Visa. In case you paid but failed to receive your Visa after five days; get in touch with a local tour operator to help you solve your Visa issue.
Travel to Uganda
With your visa in hand, you can now travel to Uganda. Upon arrival, present your passport with the visa to the immigration officers for entry into the country. Please note, airlines no longer allow you to board to Uganda unless you have a Visa.
Visa extension (if needed)
If you wish to extend your stay in Uganda, you can apply for a visa extension at the Ugandan Directorate of Citizenship and Immigration Control. It’s advisable to apply for an extension before your initial visa expires to avoid any immigration issues.
Visa Extension is free of charge. You will only need your tourist Visa, passport, and details of your departure flights.
