Kibale Forest National Park is located in south western Uganda, it can be accessed via Mubende fort portal road for 5-6 hrs drive (308 km), it is sited on an area of 795sqkm, it has a tropical rainforest kind of vegetation, it is also has swamps and grasslands which harbors the chimpanzees which are commonly known for Kibale, 13 monkey species like Vervet monkeys, blue monkeys, black and white colobus, red colobus among others which can easily be seen in Bigodi wetland sanctuary and many bird species. Kibale national park is mostly recognized for a memorable experience of chimpanzee habituation and chimpanzee trekking since it has the most population of chimpanzees in Uganda compared to other parks with chimpanzees. Kibale has over70 mammals, chimpanzees and over 375 bird species. There are so many things to do when you visit Kibale national park.

This is a process done by the tourism researchers to make the chimpanzees get used to human beings so they can make trekking easy. The chimpanzees are habituated for a period of 2-3 years before they are left for normal trekking. In Uganda the chimpanzee habituation permit costs US$200.
Chimpanzee trekking
This is a wonderful and memorable experience that you cannot miss when you visit kibale national park where you get to see the chimpanzees face to face in their natural habitats. A chimpanzee trekking permit in Uganda costs 150 usd.
Nature walks and nocturnal walks
You may go for hikes through the forests for nature walks during the day or at night known as nocturnal walk to see more wild life especially those that come out at night like lions, leopards, bush babies among others, guided by the rangers.
Birding
Birding starts from kanyanchu in Bigodi wetland sanctuary which is home to 138 birds that can be viewed during a guided walk.
Cultural encounters
You may have guided community walks to the nearby communities and learn about the Batooro cultures and their life styles.
