- Get briefed. During gorilla briefing, guests are equipped with what to do and what to avoid while on Gorilla trekking. The briefing is done by experienced ranger guides.
- Move with a walking stick to support you through the slippery trails
- Hire a porter to carry your luggage to reduce your load.
- Put on long-sleeved clothes to warm you up and prevent direct insect bites
- Sunglasses will protect you from direct sun rays into your eyes
- The hat will protect you from direct sun rays
- Avoid diverting from the instructions of the ranger guides to avoid dangers while in the forest
- Keep in a group and do everything in groups up to the end of the exercise
- If gorillas charge, leave them
- If you are not fit enough or if your health status is not fine, move with four porters plus a stretcher.
- Waterproof shoes are the ones recommended for Gorilla trekking in Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo among others.
