In order to conserve for generations, Uganda set strict standard operating Procedures to be followed by all people intending to trek gorillas in Uganda. The aim is to control the spread of Covid-19 from humans to Gorillas and the reverse is true. Below are 5 ways the Ugandan government is attempting to curb the spread of Covid-19 during gorilla trekking in Uganda:

  1. Avoid gathering in large numbers. Among the many trekkers who are ready to meet gorillas, one or two or more can be infected with the virus so, it’s wise to maintain social distancing.
  2. Get full Vaccination to avoid delays at entry points like border posts and international Airports among others. You can get the first and the second jab to secure your health against coronavirus. The vaccinated stand a higher chance of resisting the virus hence controlling the spread of coronavirus.
  3. Regular washing of hands with soap and clean water. Human hands stand higher risks of touching the virus and thereafter, you can accidentally touch soft spots like eyes, nose, or mouth. Through the list, coronavirus circulates to the throat and then to the lungs to cause damage to the lungs to facilitate death.
  4. Get your PCR Test before coming to Uganda and on arrival at Entebbe Airport, you are expected to test again before continuing to other destinations. When returning back home, test again.
  5. Sanitize to kill Covid -19 virus. Visit any health and doctors to recommend for you effective sanitizer to us.
