Mgahinga National Park is another home for mountain Gorillas in Uganda. It is the smallest National Park in Uganda but is famously known for hosting Nyakagezi Gorilla Family.

It’s believed that one of Rwanda’s Mountain Gorilla families known as Hirwa shifted to Mgahinga National park in 2018 and is still on a visit.
WHY SHOULD YOU GORILLA TREK IN MGAHINGA NATIONAL PARK?
There are several reasons for trekking Gorillas in Mgahinga Gorilla National park but in the article, am going to give a few:
Easily accessible
You can reach Mgahinga National park from Entebbe Airport in Uganda or from Kigali Airport in Rwanda. The hour drive includes 8 and 4 respectively, you can reach faster when you drive from Kigali but if you are not in a rash, you can drive from Entebbe.
Brief itinerary:
Option One
Day 1: Arrival at Kigali International Airport
Be welcomed by our professional safari guide/ driver –drive to southwestern Uganda through Katuna Boarder – Proceed to the Mgahinga National Park for dinner and overnight at Mount Gahinga Lodge.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National
Drive back to Kigali Airport for evening departure (3-4 hours drive).
The Nyakagezi Gorilla family is easily traced by the rangers. Since it’s the only Mountain Gorilla Family in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park, the rangers can easily detect where it is based on its previous location to shorten the trek.
There is the possibility to encounter other attractions like Golden Monkeys, birds, and unique tree species among others. The park is full of different attractions including the mountains, Monkeys, drainage features, vegetation, birds, Batwa, and so on.
Hiking the Mountains in Mgahinga National Park is adventurous. As you ascend to meet Gorillas, you will also be thrilled with the views of different Mountains in the Democratic Republic of Congo, the green vegetation, drainage features, and unique topography among others.
The Batwa experiential cultural trip supplements Gorilla trekking in Mgahinga Gorilla National Park. You can spend a full day with the Batwa pygmies to learn more about their culture, enjoy music, dance, and drama, see their cultural attires and learn many skills from them.

Day 1: Morning arrival at Entebbe Airport
Be welcomed by our professional safari guide/ driver –Transfer to Mgahinga Gorilla National Park (8-9hrs drive). Lunch in Mbarara town and proceed to the park for dinner and overnight at Mount Gahinga National Park.
Day 2: Gorilla trekking
Afternoon relaxation. You will have dinner and overnight at your previous accommodation.
Day 3: Batwa experiential tour
Drive to Kigali Airport for evening Departure.
