Mgahinga Gorilla National park is situated in far southwestern Uganda and is the smallest national park in Uganda. It is the only place in Uganda where you can track mountain gorillas and golden monkeys.

Bwindi Impenetrable Forest and Mgahinga National Park
Both parks are situated in southwestern Uganda and are near each other. Visitors can easily connect from one park to another. It is quite possible to trek gorillas in Bwindi impenetrable national park and tracks golden monkeys in Mgahinga gorilla national park.
Both parks offer Gorilla trekking at the same cost of US$700 for foreign none resident guests, East Africans pay shs 250,000. It should be noted that Gorilla trekking is the number one Gorilla tourist activity in Uganda and earns the country a lot of foreign exchange.
Differences between Mgahinga National park and Bwindi Impenetrable national park
Mgahinga gorilla national park has only one habituated gorilla family while Bwindi impenetrable forest national park has over 19 habituated gorilla families
The Bwindi impenetrable national park has the biggest gorilla family in Uganda.
Bwindi Forest receives more guests compared to Mgahinga national park. This is partly attributed to the fact that Mgahinga has only one habituated gorilla family and also the former bad record of tourists failing to spot gorillas in Mgahinga a couple of years ago.
The Bwindi impenetrable national park is larger than Mgahinga’s national park in size.
The Bwindi impenetrable national park has more forest cover and is thicker than Mgahinga national park. Mgahinga gorilla national park has more bamboo forests than Bwindi impenetrable national park.
Mhaginga National Park offers both Gorilla and Golden Monkey trekking while there are no golden Monkeys treks in Bwindi Impenetrable national park.
Mgahinga National Park is more mountainous than Bwindi Impenetrable national park. More mountaineering activities are offered in Mgahinga National Park than in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.
