Gorilla Trekking Briefing In Uganda
The briefing aims at tipping trekkers about the DOS and DON’Ts on the course of Gorilla trekking. Gorilla trekking briefing is spearheaded by the game rangers from Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) and lasts for 30 minutes. Gorilla trekking is done at the park headquarters of Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga Gorilla National Park from 7:30 am to 8 am.

DOS of Gorilla Trekking in Uganda
- Keep low voices when near the gorillas
- Take as many pictures as possible
- Spend one full hour viewing Gorillas
- Feel free to ask questions during gorilla trekking
- Move with enough water.
- Maintain a distance of 7 meters
- If Gorillas charge please leave them
- Dig a hole in case you want to ease yourself and thereafter, bury all wastes
- Stay closely together. Scattering may upset Gorillas. They may think you want to challenge or fight them
On the other hand, game rangers also equip tourists with the following DON’TS:
Donts of Gorilla Trekking in Uganda
- Do not put on flash when taking pictures of Gorillas
- Do not shout near Gorillas
- Avoid shouting about colored clothes
- Do not litter in the park
- Do not touch or feed Gorillas
- Do not smoke near Gorillas
- Avoid visiting Gorillas when you are suffering from flu and cough or any other contagious disease.
Each Gorilla family is visited by a maximum of eight people and after the briefing, each group headed by rangers walks in the forest to look for Mountain Gorillas. One of the rangers escorting guests must be armed to ensure that each trekker is safe.
