Kibale National Park is found in Uganda while Nyungwe National Park in Rwanda. Nyungwe is one of the last places in Africa to maintain this type of forest. At over 1000km2, Nyungwe is the Africa’s largest mountain forest. Nyungwe is the source of Africa’s great rivers. Rain that falls on the eastern side feeds the Nile and on the west runs to the Congo. The Congo- Nile divide is a mountain range that runs morth to south through run.

The current cost of Kibale Chimpanzee trekking permit is US$ 150 while for Nyungwe is US$ 90. Chimpanzee trekking in both destinations start with briefing (where trekkers are equipped with the Dos and Don’ts while trekking chimps).
Kibale and Nyungwe National Parks are composed of tropical vegetation with tall trees forming canopies. The chimps move freely into the forest and sometimes they climb to the tree branches.
Nyungwe National park is situated far from the capital city of Kigali (6-8 hours’ drive). The park is well known for hosting 13 primate species including Mona monkeys, blue monkey, Grey- cheeked mangabey, Dent’s monkey, L’Hoest’s monkey, Red-tailed monkey, Colobus monkeys, Vervet monkeys, chimpanzees and so on. Unfortunately, most of the primate species in Nyungwe forest are endangered. Other tourist activities in Nyungwe national park include nature walks, Cultural tours, birding, Canopy walk, Tea trips and so on. In Kibale National Park, you can enjoy other activities like cultural tours, forest walks, Bigodi swamp tour, birding, and nocturnal walk among others.
From Kibale National park, you can drive to Mountains of the moon (Mountain Rwenzori) to see the amazing slopes, Queen Elizabeth National park for game drives, Bwindi Impenetrable National park for mountain Gorilla trekking and or Mgahinga National park for Golden Monkey trekking to make your tour amazing.
From Nyungwe National park, you can drive to Volcanoes National park for Mountain Gorilla tracking and Golden Monkey trekking, Gisenyi or Kibuye for boat trips on Lake Kivu, Akagera National park for Game drive and or Kigali for city trip.
