Kidepo Valley National Park is a 1,442 square kilometres National park in the Karamoja region in northeast Uganda near Uganda- Kenya boarder. Kidepo is rugged savannah, dominated by the 2,750 metres Mountain Morungole and bisected by River Kidepo and Narus rivers. Kidepo Valley National Park is dominated by savannah grassland and savanna woodland situated in semi-arid region with scarcity of water during dry season. The Ik were displaced from their land to create the Kidepo Valley National Park and consequently suffered extreme famine. Also, their weakness relative to other tribes meant they were regularly raided. The Ik are subsistence farmers who grind their own grain.
