Hot springs in Uganda have one with in common, the oral tradition behind them regarding the magical healing. Of course no scientific research has been done to prove this oral tradition; but it still goes on to attract many visitors not only from Uganda but also from other parts of the world.

Sempaya Hot Springs

There are a number of hot springs in Uganda that attract travelers to the country but sempaya hot springs in Semuliki National park remains the leading and most known hot spring in Uganda attracting a number of people because they are unique egg cooking experience at the hot springs. You can also dare to cook anything of your choice in this 120oc hot water gashing out at a very high speed while forming pools from where the cooking is done from.

Based on the oral tradition of Sempaya hot springs; there is a female hot spring and male hot spring which are far distant from each other. The naming involves some bees and birds talk that will be a good temptation to see how your guide reacts around weird conversations.

Though still not scientifically proven; the water from these hot springs is believed to cure diseases like ring worms, and the female hot spring is believed to solve most of the marital hindrances in regard to women. It is also better experienced by an experienced local guide in case you are comfortable drawing deeper into the birds and bees talk

Kitagata Hot springs

It is located few kilometers from kitagata trading Centre in Bushenyi district. It is a recommended enroute destination in case you are coming from or heading to Bwindi impenetrable forest national park for Lake Mburo national park.

Unlike Sempaya hotsprings; the spring is divided into two sections; Ekyomugabbe meaning belonging to the king and Mulago; the section that is believed to have healing power; the rocks that surround the hot spring.

Besides steam baths, visitors often drink this warm water alongside cooking eggs, sweet potatoes among several other delicacies just like in Sempaya hot springs. The place might be a little beat congested due to its easy accessibility unlike other hot springs.

Amoropii Hot springs

These are found in northern Uganda. They are one of the few places in Uganda with a long trail of norms; for instance it is believed that a woman who has never given birth before visits these hot springs without permission will become barren while those who are barren will receive the ability to give birth. It is believed to do miracles for the people, the barren get children, and its water is also believed to be a good remedy for a tender skin.

Amoropii hot springs would be one of the recommended destinations in case you are visiting Murchison falls national park or Aruu falls. However you are required to get prior permission from Panyimur Chiefdom prime minister since these hot springs are considered a sacred place.  It is told that after sacrifices are made, the carcasses are left near the hot springs but they disappear overnight.

Like Sempaya hot springs, visitors often carry eggs, sweet potatoes among several other foodstuffs that can be cooked. However visiting this place without permission from the prime minister is believed to cause misfortunes in the life of the visitor

Ihimba Hot Springs

This is also another iconic eye catching destination in south western Uganda. It would also be a good enroute destination in case you have Lake Bunyoyi and gorilla trekking in bwindi impenetrable forest national park.

Ihimba hot springs has a lot of historic tales behind it just like the Amoropii hot springs. It is related to the bahima tribes of western Uganda. Like all the other hot springs, it is believed to have healing power and several visitors make their way to this place of the same reason. However; besides these myths and folk tales, the scenery at this site is exceptional and a highly recommended destination.
