Difficulty in getting a Gorilla permit

In some countries like Uganda and Rwanda among others, travelers are advised to book ten months in advance so you are assured of your spot. All gorilla tour permits are issued from the Uganda Wildlife Authority offices in Kampala which permits tourists to trek and see gorillas in their natural environment.

Cost of Gorilla permit

In countries like Rwanda, the cost of a Gorilla permit goes to US$1500 and US$700 in Uganda, and US$450 in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC). To some travelers, this amount is high yet there are some cheaper options elsewhere.

Generally, a gorilla trip is expensive because of incurring many costs including flight fares, tips, cost of gorilla permits, ground transport, and so on.

Walking through the thick jungles, slipper trails, insect bites, and climbing uphills, and downslope makes Gorilla trekking difficult. Gorilla trekking involves hiking through difficult terrain, thick vegetation, water bodies, hills, and valleys. The activity can be very challenging and strenuous leaving one exhausted and with a sore knee especially if they are not used to walking for long hours.

Though it is not common Sometimes gorillas charge and cause harm to the faint-hearted. Mosquitoes, and tsetse fly bites among others cause diseases like Malaria, sleeping sickness, and so on.

Age limit

The age limit restricts persons below the age of 15 in Uganda, Rwanda, and the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
