Pre-Gorilla Trekking Stage

The pre-gorilla trekking stage involves booking the gorilla trekking permits, accommodation, transport, and the gorilla trekking briefing. It is at this stage to you choose the exact place where you will trek the gorillas.

If you are trekking gorillas in Uganda, you will have to choose between Mgahinga gorilla national park and Bwindi impenetrable national park. If you go for Bwindi, you will have to further choose among the four sectors in Bwindi impenetrable national park.

If you are trekking gorillas in Rwanda or the Democratic Republic of Congo, there are no extra choices to be made other than accommodation and transportation.

Gorilla Trekking Stage

After the briefing you will set out for gorilla trekking

Actual stage is when travelers engage with Gorillas. While with Gorillas, tourists are expected to do the following:

  • Take photos/ Films of gorillas however flash cameras are not allowed.
  • Maintain a distance of 7 metres to avoid the spread of diseases from Gorillas to human and from human to gorillas.
  • Viewing Gorillas with your naked eyes. Take time to look at Gorillas with your naked eyes. Remember, its a life time event to look into the eyes of the Gorillas.
  • Keep in group to avoid scaring Gorillas. If you scatter, gorillas may thing you want to fight them.
  • Keep low voices not to annoy Gorillas. Keeping low voices keep gorillas calm but loud voices brings suspicions to gorillas.
  • Ask questions about gorillas- while amidst gorillas, ask rangers for any thing you need to know about Gorillas and any other things.
