5 Reasons For Visiting Kibale National Park

Kibale National Park is situated in western Uganda and famous for hosting the amazing chimpanzees. Kibale is highest at the park’s northern tip, which stands 1,590m above sea level. The lowest point is 1,100m on the floor of the Albertine Rift Valley to the south.  The popular activity in Kibale National Park is Primate Walk and 13 primate species can be sought of but the major ones are diurnal monkeys and the chimpanzees. Over 351 tree species have been recorded in Kibale National park and 375 species of birds among other thing makes the park worth a visit.

Kibale National Park is Accessible– It takes 5-6 hours drive from Kampala city or Entebbe International Airport. That means you can start the trip and then drive to Kibale National Park the same day.  You can as well start the trip from Kigali International Airport  and then drive to south western – proceed to Kibale via Queen Elizabeth National Park.

Primate species – There are more than 375 primate species in Kibale Forest but the dominant ones are the chimpanzees, Black-and-white Colobus Monkey, Blue Monkey, Red-tailed Monkey, Grey-cheeked Mangabey and Bushbaby among other. Chimps move in large troops and Kibale Forest is the best destination for chimpanzee trekking in Uganda. Other activities conducted include chimpanzee Habituation, birding, forest walks among others.

The Green Forest -Over 351 tree species are recorded in Kibale National Park. The trees form evergreen Canopies which looks attractive to the tourists. The green forest offers fresh air to the travelers especially those who book accommodation with in or near the Forests

Cultural encounter -The daily life of the Batooro can be discovered during the village walks. The tour stops by the village’s primary school, church, and traditional healer. You will learn about the role of women in the village and traditional ceremonies, and the

history of Bigodi is told through the story of the “Village of Two Tribes”, describing when the indigenous Batooro were joined by migrating Bakiga from southwestern Uganda in the 1950s. You can as well visit the Toto-King’s palace to study more about the Toro – Kingdom among other things.

Nocturnal walks -The night walks through Kibale Forest is one of the most amazing adventures while in the park. The ranger guides will lead you through the forest to see night walking animals like bush babies, leopards among others. Also expect to meet nocturnal birds and listen to their unique sounds.
