Compared to other neighboring countries like Rwanda and Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), there are several reasons why i recommend gorilla trekking in Uganda. In this article, lets choose only five strong reasons among others:

1. Uganda has two Gorilla parks – Bwindi Impenetrable National Park is the most known but Mgahinga is also counted among the two Gorilla parks. Uganda is thought to protect almost half of the world’s remaining Mountain Gorillas. Alternatively, you can decide to hike through Mgahinga National Park to visit the only Nyakagezi Gorilla Family. In comparison, BINP offers less strenuous Gorilla trek than Mgahinga which is made up of mountains Gahinga and Muhavura.  In other words, Uganda allows clients to choose where to trek Gorilla from unlike other neighboring countries.

2. Bwindi Impenetrable National Park has Four Gorilla trekking centres – BINP alone has 19 habituated Gorilla families with four trekking centres;  Nkuringo, Ruhija, Buhoma and Rushaga. That means, widening the chances of getting Gorilla permits hence successful Gorilla trek. It should be noted that each Gorilla group is visited by a maximum of eight people and each trekking sector in Bwindi has more than two Gorilla groups. Basing on this fact, its true to conclude that seeing Gorilla in Uganda is guaranteed.

3. The Reputable, Trusted  and experienced Tour Operators– Uganda Tour operators are regulated by strong associations like; Association Of Uganda Tour Operators (AUTO), Uganda Safari Guide Association (USAGA), Uganda Tourism Association (UTA) and above all Uganda Wildlife Authority (UWA) to facilitate professionalism in Uganda’ Tourism Sector.

4. Tight Security in all Ugandan Parks including Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga National Parks -Uganda parks are safe guarded by Uganda People’s Defense Force (UPDF), Uganda Tourism Police (UTP) and Uganda Wildlife Authority security groups to ensure safety of tourists, animals and birds among others.  In general, Uganda has never experienced any war since the end of the liberation Movement which brought Yoweri Kaguta Museveni into power in 1986 -In other words, Uganda is a peaceful nations.

5. Recommendable  Transport & Accommodation – So far so good that Uganda has improved the standards of  its transport system. Uganda also offers an opportunity for domestic flight from Entebbe to your proffered tourist destination like Murchison Falls National Park, Kidepo Valley National Park, Queen Elizabeth National Park and above all to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park and Mgahinga National Park from Kihihi or Kisoro Air strips. By road, you can still reach Gorilla parks (8-9hrs drive).  On the side of accommodation, you will find luxurious, Mid-range and budget accommodation in Bwindi Impenetrable and Mgahinga National Parks.
